    Default Best Laptop for HV30?

    I have the HV30
    -Final Cut Studio
    -Final Cut Express
    -Adobe After Effects CS3 (Old)
    -Pro Tools LE 8

What Used Computer would be best for use with these? What Gigahertz/Ram would be best? I HATE RENDERING! My Price Range is $500-$600. Looking on Craigslist. Which One should I keep an eye out for?

    Throw away that Adobe stuff.
The aluminum MacBooks are able to run FCS. You might need to beef up the internal HD or have all the FCS media on an external drive.
RAM should be minimum 4, better 8 gig.

I happily use FCE on a 2.4GHz plastic MacBook.

    WARNING!

Not all of them - one model, http://www.apple-history.com/?page=g...del=mb_late_08 lacks the FireWire port...

Get a 15" MBP. It's the right size, has enough power, and is otherwise a great laptop.

You know, Seo, I actually prefer a smaller 13" MacBook, with an external 23" monitor - together they are cheaper than the plain 15" MBP, and now I've got two displays, and the large one is full-HD to boot...

That would work if you didn't have a desktop. But I have an iMac I usually edit on, so a 15" MBP is right for me. And I don't think editing on a Macbook would be too enjoyable.

I just noticed the OP's budget. I don't think it's very realistic, it's not enough to buy even a used Macbook.

When you talk about these, remember my price range! Would this work, despite the graphics requirement? http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/sys/1659708474.html

FCE will work fine in a Mac Mini. Remember to buy a monitor, mouse and keyboard, too, if you've not already got them, or they are included in the deal.

BTW, a MacMini isn't much more expensive as new, starting at $ 599:

(Why don't you sell the extra software you don't need - I of course assume it's legit; only then can you sell it...)

It is. I need them all, and I have Final Cut Pro, not FCE!

FCS works on the new Minis. Sell your CS3 and you have a monitor.

Your original post mentions FCE, too...

What I meant is that some less expensive Macs lack the graphic card that is needed for some FCS operations...

Janke, it is the built in Intel 3100 (or so) from the plastic MacBook that had problems with some FX due to the Open GL drivers. The newer ones do fine. Just don't expect anything out of Color or fluid motion in Motion.
Huey'n'Rolf are using a last generation Mini and nearly talked me into getting one too.

Yes, but as the OP mentioned used computers, I thought it prudent to warn him...
