    Question Stabilized lens?

    I have a 5DMKII and will be getting either a T2i or 7D for everyday use/back up.

    I have the following lenses.

    50mm
    85mm
    17-40mm
    24-70mm
    70-200mm 2.8 non-IS

I'm wondering if I should have an IS lens in my arsenal for recording event type handheld shooting. Or should I get a glidecam instead? Or live with my monopod?

I can't imagine getting the 24-105 IS but are there others to consider?

    Suggestions appreciated.

IS will definitely improve hand-held shots. The 24-105 is a GREAT lens. A stabilizer won't necessarily overcome the same kinds of challenges that IS will. IS + Stabilizer is great.

I was afraid you would say that. Since I already have the 24-70, buying the 24-105 would be a severe overlap. I wonder how the non-L lenses with IS are looking nowadays.

I might get the 7D with the 28-135 IS kit lens. Anyone have experience using this lens for video? or should I just get the body only and save $200?

It's beautiful, and very well built.

I read that that IS noise is prevalent in video recordings. I understand in important projects, I wouldn't be using the built in mic anyway, but for family videos is it annoying?
