My advice is don't buy wide angle lens except the original one or the one from Raynox. That is what I learn from this forum.

Stay away from those cheap ebay offerings. In optics you normally get what you pay for.

Thanks for your replies guys. I'll sure buy a proper wide angle lens in future. I just want to play with a cheap one first. these lenses do make considerable difference, watch the video at the end. As I've never used one before , just want to know if there are any extra accessories needed to fix this lens to my camcorder, hope this won't ruin my camcorder. Raynox lens is what I'll buy next month, but for time being I'll play with this.

Sometimes stacking filters or using filters on a WA will cause vignetting. Pressing the Display button on the S100 will bring up the 100% view, where corners can be checked for vignetting or branches or furry mics in the frame. But you knew that already...

Hi, a new member here, just ordered myself a Canon HF S100 and a Canon wide angle lens due soon..is it true that the inbuilt flash and video light would now be blocked?..I am looking at mostly personal use, combination of video and stills, have a baby due soon..Was looking at other flash/lighting options like the the Canon vl-5, vfl-2 and the Comer 900. What do you'll suggest?

Not sure about the Canon, but the Raynox 6600 for sure blocks a bit of the light.

Any wide angle lens will block some/all of the light. If you want a light that is camera mounted and has a flash, then the Canon VFL-2 would be a good choice. The VFL-5 is just a light (with no flash) though brighter then the VFL-2. If you can get away with using a light not mounted to your camera shoe, then there are alot of other lights out there that are brighter.

Thanks Miner, saw user reviews somewhere that the vfl-2 had the same power as the inbuilt flash, is a 3 watt flash, wondering if that's true and I would need more power.
