Just making a statement about how film making as evolved technically but appears to be taking a leap backward artistically.
For some reason everyone thinks that because they have a camera that can shoot good quality video it therefor can elevate average and monotonous ideas to art. I don't intend to say stop filming to the world just think about it before you go out and film something.
I think I am going to start filming on VHS tape.
No one ever said RED music videos would be amazing... you can shoot suckish stuff with any camera. This post doesn't really prove anything.

Why in the world would you assume it to be easier to get good results with a fully manual professional camera?
Just about the only thing you can set to 'AUTO' on a RED One is white balance. Lens choice, iris, focus, etc. is entirely down to the skill of the operator (or lack thereof).

This is an amazing conclusion. I have seen a lot of RED stuff and even downloaded unprocessed RAW footage and it is nothing short of amazing. While we mess around with HV20s,GH1s and 5Ds, given the chance to use a Red one or the cheaper consumer alternatives I am sure few would say no thanks to the Red. Sometimes it is too easy to despise what we don't have.I am sure that great movies have been shot on HV20s and also rubbish shot on film.

We are about to throw away two JVC broadcast shoulder mounts (we need the cases)... interested? They are even S-VHS already.
The batteries might be re-celled though, as they weren't used for .... uhm, decades.

Since this thread is thus far unencumbered by fact, permit me to link a music video shot by some of my friends, on RED, entirely under low-key tungsten light (where the camera is at its worst). Doesn't suck, IMHO ...

While I liked the clip, good music, interesting artistic direction and nicely shot, I'm still not so sure that's a good example clip.
It may have been the re-compression because I know what the Red is capable of doing, but that had a lot of mosquito noise and macro blocking.
It's not the camera, it's how you use it yo.
Book of Eli and Angels and Demons were shot on RED. I think those looked pretty good. I've seen people make 35mm look worse than what an HV40 can do. It's how you use it that counts, not completely just what camera you use.

LOL.. am I the only one who gets what the OP was trying to get across? Though it was as vague as you can get…it’s just the principal behind what he said that really matters. And I think it was supposed to be humorous at the same time…..which obviously didn’t go over too well.

Why do they feel the need to specify the physical length of film they shot.....for Sweden?
Fun fact: Angels & Demons also used nine Canon HF-10s, but no footage from them appears in the film — they were fitted with wide-angle adapters and mounted to the production's film cameras to record tracking markers. According to the production's VFX Supervisor, "about half of the St. Peter's Square shots were tracked from those cameras."
