    Default Film Posters/Cover Art/Etc.

    Hey guys;

    Wondering what your thoughts are on Poster Art for indie films (such as your own) and whether its worth the time? I've been thinking about poster art for my own little short film, and considering I want to do a screening in town... I thought it might be an idea to make posters to show around town.

    Heres some of my own stuff (Mostly just mucking around to get a feel for the final stuff for the film):

    http://bonecollector101.deviantart.c...nt-1-153754503 (all are slight mods of each other)

    Feel free to post some of the poster art/Slicks/Cover art from your own films as well.

    Do you design your own art, or do you pay/ask a friend/professional to do it?

    I think poster art is important. At least they tell you it is at Withoutabox.

    I like this one the best:

    Depending how good the logo is! (jk)

    Here's one i've made for a short trip we made in Quebec this summer with our nephew, nothing spectacular. The AVCHD was the one i used.
    The DVD was more a test i've made with Surround Sound and THX certified logos to see how it'd look like.

    @Drapeama;
    Those are pretty good, I prefer the first one... but thats coz I'm a sucker for black borders. I don't read/speak french though... so I couldn't understand it :/

    I've attached the slick for my own movie (again, this is just early concept... the actors names won't in that font, and the actors have changed since). Let me know your thoughts, and be sure to attach your own!

    Thanks!
    Yours could easily be a commercial DVD cover! Very nice job!

    I was inspired by quiet a few movies... namely the threepack DVD cover of Gangsters, Scarface and Casino: http://www.dvdvideo.co.nz/shop/image...ace_Casino.jpg

    I've been told that it reminds people of a lot of old 80's film covers like Scarface (which was also an influence)...

    Thanks Drapeama ... you just made my day!

    Thanks Draps, I was wondering this as well. Rather than giving me criticism on my (long since cancelled film's) posters, lets see yours.

    In fact, here's one I did for my most recent short film...

    (Sorry Mal, File uploading isn't working for me).

    I don't have many occasion to work on one, but here's the last one I've done, pretty simple and nice for a wedding video I think:

    I like the concept. It's simple and express well what it has to tell.

    Another poster to share, this one is for a film school project I'm working on. This is a very basic poster, but exactly what I wanted.

    Nice. Simple, but as you said, what you wanted. And it's effective imho.

    It's a great shot, but I'd tweak the typography.

    Suggestions? I'm thinking it's a little off myself... but I don't know where to go with it.
