ONE more day of shooting to go! And we are in the can.

This weekend was grueling. Friday, we started at 3pm and didn't wrap til 3:30 am. Saturday, got up at 7 am calltime was at 9 am... shot that scene until 11 am.. drove back, set up for the rest of the days shoots.. calltime 3pm.. wrapped at 6:45 am.. got home at 8:30 am. Running on 8 redbulls and very little sleep. Tension was through the roof, and many people were pushed to their breaking point. I at one point almost pulled a Christian Bale on extras whom were staring directly into the camera, ruining every take of a very important and very draining (required a physical stunt) scene I was in. We did get it eventually, but my body was aching from hitting the ground. We wrapped two of our principal actors though, which was great! 3 more to go!

Looks like you shot it interlaced...but you did 24p, right?

should be the same as the other shots from the HV40. Maybe it looks interlaced because he was "moving" in that still?

Looks great, how did you get so many people involved? Pay? And how did you get an ambulance?? Are the cops just costumes or did you hire officers to act?

Hey, thanks for checking it out.

I live in a pretty small town in Georgia. When I first started writing, I contacted one of the members of the rotary club here.. about permission to shoot at a landmark in town. The president of the chamber of commerce emailed me back and basically said "Whatever you need, you got it.. lets make it happen". She hooked up the ambulances, and police cars. All our police were actors, and two paramedics were actors and 2 were real paramedics we used as extras. We had someone buy the uniforms for the actors. We used two different ambulances. One was borrowed from a private ambulance service who let us use it for 3 days for "credit". The other we used in one scene for one day, and we got it from the local EMS. They just came by when we needed it, we shot what we needed with it and they went back out on the road.

As far as people. Stuff like this isn't very common here, and people like this sort of stuff around here. All the extras volunteered for copy/credit/meals. The Actors and crew all worked for the same, with the terms that if the movie were to make a sufficient amount of profit for everyone to be paid, they would be paid. Noone has seemed to care about that too much and just wanted to get a movie made and have something for their resume. We didn't use an entire cast of pro actors, and in alot of scenes it shows.. but this is our first attempt and I'm using it as a stepping stone to bigger things where I hopefully will have the budget to hire professional actors.. etc.

That's great to have that much support. I'm trying to think of ways to sneak that kind of stuff in my project. The Detroit area is not so great for offering up that kind of help. CongratS!

I'm looking for one or two folks to check out a scene, its edited but its still pretty rough.. no sound design yet, sound hasn't been mixed. or score.. I just wanted to get some feedback from some people in the "know" that aren't my friends or family. 1 or 2 volunteers..

Well, we had our Cast and Crew wrap party this weekend. We were lucky enough to get hooked up with an amazing location that was actually a Haunted House attraction, that included blacklight putt putt golf. The amazing folks at the "FEAR FACTORY" haunted house, got their actors together and ran us through the attraction, which was very fun. I got the CRAP shocked out of me, on this thing called the "Strong Man Test" which feels like your getting electrocuted in the chair. Then, we showed two entire scenes and 15 minutes of outtakes on a 300" screen using an Epson HD projector. We wound up exporting the clips as MPEG-2 files from Apple Compressor, and since they were all smaller than 4 gigs each. I put them all on a 16GB USB drive and brought my PS3 to play them from. We connected an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the projector and the AV cable to a HUGE sound system, with 4 subs.. etc. I got chills seeing it on a big screen. It was just so weird seeing my movie up on a big screen. We had about 50 people there, and not all of them were part of the cast/crew (we allowed them to bring one guest each) but the response was overwhelming. People laughed when they were supposed to, grossed out at the right places, and cheered after every scene, and were sad when it was over because they all wanted to see more. The reaction like that makes all the long hours and grueling work to film this thing worth every minute of it. I think I've definitely found my "calling" after jumping around from "hobby to hobby" looking for a place to call home. I've learned so much from you guys. Just wanted to share my excitement.
