I had some free time on my hands yesterday so I decided to put some parts I had lying around together and made a mini flip module to be used with the LCD screen. It gives an image similar size to the electronic viewfinder of the HV20. This is a real flip module which flips the image vertically as well as horizontally except that it is a mini version.
This is really great for run and gun, no need for bulky monitor, no worry about dust on mirrors, minimum weight, no warranty voiding hacking of LCD and Proper focusing using actual LCD. The box I used was a little too small so the cover could not be closed properly. I used my dremel tool to cut the holes. I will use my CNC mill to cut the holes properly in my next version after I find a proper housing which fit. Version 1 (black box) has the front and back holes on the same level, just left/right offset positions and using a prism from binoculars. Version 2 (gray box) has the holes cut higher/lower position just like in the expensive full adapter version using a standard prism with mirrors. Both work equally well. You can see that the flip viewfinder is placed a little backward position so I can see the whole LCD screen. I cnc milled a plastic arm but I think a gooseneck arm will be much better. Here are the pics...
