    Default My first paid shoot

This is my first footage post and it also happens to be a video made for my first paid job and my first time shooting food!

I would have liked to spend more time in the editing room but my deadline was today so here it is:

    [ame="http://vimeo.com/9121742"]Awrey Products of 2010 on Vimeo[/ame]

Feedback is welcome and wanted, thanks for watching!

Edit: Unfortunately I had to take the video down for now because the company doesn't want it available until they launch the products and get copies of the video out to their clients

Congratulations on your paid job. I hope your customer was satisfied. Here's a few pointers.
It's poorly lit, so the product close ups look dull and blurry. The stills at the end really highlight this. You should consider investing in some better lights. For food especially, fluorescents would be best.

The sound is so so, get the mic off the camera and either boom the talent or wire him with a lav.

Beware of mirrors or reflective surfaces, in the intro the camera can be seen clearly in the oven door... that's how I know you had the mic on camera
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Yeah lighting was a bit of an issue for us, some of the close-up shots were hard to look at in post. I have been thinking about getting a light kit for a while now, I just don't know where to start, haha.

The mic was on a boom. In the intro you can see the boom operator on the right side of the microwave just before the camera enters from the left side. Again, it really sucked noticing that in post, I'll definitely be paying closer attention to reflective surfaces in the future.

    Thanks for the feedback!

some ten dollar clip on lights from home depot and a daylight rated lamp would have given you much better results, but hey, live and learn. Thats what forums like this are for, you can learn everything you need to know pretty much right with in this site.
    I'm feeling frisky!

    I liked the content

Editing was nice also. Maybe you could have made the music fade out more slowly, like veeery slowly. Or even make a cut in the music when the man starts talking and make the music after the cut barely noticeable, but still there and fade from before the cut into that very low volume sound layer. Smooths it all out.

Did you already do any image adjustment? I mean like gamma, gain...
If not you could save quite a lot there.

Now I really gotta go eat something, I'm dying

I ended up not having the time to put it through a color grading which I regret. I was planning on brightening up some of the darker shots and of course making some of the colors pop a bit.

Unfortunately I had to take the video down for now because the company doesn't want it available until they launch the products and get copies of the video out to their clients.
