    Default MTS File Converter?

New user to the forums that just has a simple question, is there a free MTS to <insert common video format here> converter out there that anybody is aware of? I recently purchased a HF20 and was looking for something simple for the wife to convert the video she shoots to a serviceable format to upload to facebook. The camera came with a lightweight software package from Pixela, but from what I can tell it only offers clipping and transition features; I'd like to avoid spending money on a full service video editing suite given that the wife will likely never use it. She's using an HP laptop with Vista 64 Home. Any suggestions would be wonderful, thanks in advance everybody!

    Hi Creslinz
Just for rapid conversion without doing anything fancy, just use one of the many GUIs for the open source ffmpeg. The free ones and the pay ones all work roughly the same way, so there is no point in paying for one. I use the koyote video convertor from www.koyotesoft.com. Its neat and free, but does try to install a browser toolbar, which you can either block, remove, or even leave.
