    Default Horses - HV20 25P Cinemode

A four minute static take of horses in a field. Shot on an HV20 at
full zoom. ND4 filter. 25P Cinemode. Lightly graded with Sony Vegas
    8.

Nothing happens. Actually, a couple of things do happen... I think a
couple of birds fly through and at one point one of the horses looks
    around a bit.

Although i am not a lover of cini mode as a rule the film does have a nice old world look.It is a shame you never did other angles and zooms in places though.

I love the color. This would be good stock footage.

    Hi Jet,

    Thanks for watching.

Yes, I think cinemode can be appropriate sometimes. I know what you mean about angles etc but I really wanted to just have a static take for this scene. It was so peaceful and natural. I often think I'm obsessed with tracks and pans and dof etc so this just goes the other way and says 'this is the scene.' Of course its very boring over the 4 minutes, but there is actually something going on all the time albeit small movement in the background. You're probably right and I should have done some close-ups of the horses munching and a few track shots around them. Maybe next time.

    Cheers for now,

    Adrian.

The color & framing were great. Nice ciematic shot. A nice pan with the mountains behing would have been even better!
It would be a nice winter scene in a western! Even if it's static, for stock footage you did a good job!

    Hi MLB,

Thanks for watching. I'm so pleased you like the colour. I thought it looked great. Thanks for the 'stock footage' comment... it might've been good for a cutaway shot...

::: (6 seconds max) - Holmes, standing in the Lord Pringles drawing room, briefly looks through the french windows and sees a small gathering of horses feeding in a snow covered field. He looks on them for a few moments when his gaze is interrupted by... - :::

or... a 'scene setting' shot with a caption:

    ''The Lost Forest, Prague" or

    "Germany, 1888"

Alas, none of these ideas will work as the shot is letterboxed to a non standard ratio!

    Thanks again for watching.

    Cheers for now,

    Adrian.

Thanks drapeama. The light really made the look because the sun was very low and behind the horses. You're right about a pan. But there are no mountains there! It does look like there should be though doesn't it! I hadn't thought of it having a western feel... but of course you are right. With the right soundtrack it could be 'Ontario, The New Frontier'' or 'Colarado, 1890'.

I hope to be shooting more footage at this location and will try and get some good quality pans and tracks.

    Cheers for now,

    A.L.

It does not have a western feel for me. Indeed more france or germany as you suggested.

Hi Bat, thanks for watching and glad you liked the colors (or as I would say 'colours'!) I think I will re-visit this location sometime and get some footage with some different shots and see what I can put together.

Thanks again for watching and for your comment.

    Regards,

    Adrian.
