Default SteadIcam Vs. SteadYcam & my rig

Hi all. Thought this would make for great first post. I'm too into DIY but more on a higher level. I started off like most, with garage tools and slowly climbed the ladder to using CNC machines to get the best tolerance for my equipment. With this is mind I have completed my custom built full rig. 99% ready. It's been a long road but I'm glad I'll get to use it in making my first feature. Filming starts in February.
Many have been many discussions about Steadicam, higher brand systems as well as lower brand systems to DIY rigs; and what to buy and the differences. Well, if you are interested in reading up a little on such subject matter then just read my article:

    SteadIcam vs. SteadYcam

For those interested, here are pics of my rig. A mixture of both commercial parts and custom built by me.

I did not know every thread started has to be approved by the admin first before being posted. That is is why I made another post because I did not see the first one I had made. My apologies.

Welcome aboard. I drool every time I see that rig. Can't wait for the new book. Also thanks again for those vest parts that Robyn got me, they're going to work great.

I'm Jealous, I miss having access to a good machine shop.
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

I do not have a machine shop either. Just know people who has and who helped me out for a good deal. Believe me the cost of machining does not come cheap. I like to barter sometimes and it helps. Knowing people and exchanging favors played also a role. It took over 3 years of planning, testing and patience to get where i am today.
