Sure you did, where's a tutorial explaining how you did it. And if you can do that , well why cant you work on the hv30 hack. Please prove me wrong about you. But I think your full of bologna.
I'm feeling frisky!
@antman,
I know you were teasing to get him to work on an HVx0 hack, but Canon does do a conversion of the A1 to handle both PAL and NTSC (just like the 7D comes from teh factory handling both.) Canon charges $500 for the service.
@rz77,
Can you tell us how its done, or where you saw the instructions?
@antman, there is no services in russia that do pal/ntsc conversion. More, there is no such option on russian canon web site.
I think its strange to hack something if all functions are accesible from service menu. how tis menu activates in hv - read in instruction. In a1s all changes are in service menu too. So i buy service instruction for xlh1e, service mode cassette, approriate remote on ebay and do conversion.
Never say 'never,' but I don't think it will be that straightforward with the HV series: AFAIK the camera's main circuit board has two different part numbers, one for NTSC models and the other for PAL. I very much doubt that Canon (or anyone else for that matter) is able to convert an NTSC HVx0 to PAL through the service menus.
I let the original image go, but I suspect it's a con and a way to drive clicks to that site. (I removed the links now).
We something else, Mr. 77, or you will be a gonner...
Me too... if it were that easy to change it from NTSC to PAL Canon wouldn't be charging 500 bucks for the service and still make money from it.
I had a dream about this thread. rz77 managed to do something else bigger with the XH A1... really, really can't remember, but I do remember this thread being a lot bigger and antman apologizing to rz77.
A quick search of Russian video forums shows that rz77 is posting there as well (username Kerfs) http://www.videomax.ru/forum/forum_p...=canon-xh-a1-2. Russian readers are equally intrigued/suspicious...
With this apparently. Interesting... could be fake, could be real.
That part number on the cassette corresponds to a tool for the XL2. Here's the PDF of how it operates.
http://www.mediaserver.cl/HTML/sopor...m%20xl2-sm.pdf
I see how it would be used for tape adjustments, per the PDF, but I don't see any listing for frame rate. That doesn't mean its not on the menu, but I don't see it.
Looking at that manual, you need a remote that has the "Audio dubbing" button. Looks like you use the remote in conjunction with the cassette to access service mode and change settings.
As I type this, I'm pressing all sorts of combinations on my HF11 remote hoping to find an "easter egg".
Wouldn't it awesome if we could over crank the xha1 to 120 fps. man Lets get a hack going for this.lol
I'm feeling frisky!
Service casette is same for xm-xl-xh series. i buy SERVICE manual for xlh1e - there is some difference between operation and service manuals.
You can see in hv service manual that casette is for hv too.
????
that "cassette service mode" seems a bit fake dude
c'mon SONY makes service cassettes for canon? lolz

I mean, for god's sake, look at it ! :-P

P.S.: how in Oden's unholy and pagan name would you access a menu and operate it through a spinning tape??? XD

Take service manual for hv-xl-xh and you will be surprised much for picture of service cassette there - its a sony. There is a chip in cassette - tape is useless.
dude, plizzz
we can see on the picture that the tape is IN THERE , how would you fit in a chip ?
and for god's sake the canon sticker on a sony dv tape? :-P
I mean, do you really think we gonna buy that theory?
"The most important thing is not what's inside the camera, but rather what's in front and behind it"
You never saw dvcam casettes with memory chip? they have both tape and chip, dude.
ok so now it's a "memory" chip .
and yes I'm familiar with them , they NEVER have a sticker of another company on them XD
plus how could a memory chip affect your menu settings?
p.s.: THIS IS A DVCAM TAPE WITH A MEMORY CHIP
http://uk.shopping.com/xPO-Sony-Sony...ideo-Tape-with
and is only to store some info about timecode among other features :
i.e. allows the user to:
1) Locate the end of the last recorded scene on the tape (even if the tape has been removed from the camera) allowing for seamless transitions between recording a scene, playing it back & recording the next scene.
2) "Mark" spots on the tape, so that you can locate them later according to date, title, photo, index etc.
3) Superimpose titles (8 presets & 2 custom) while recording or after recording.
4) Label the cassette.
That's as much as I know about it. I haven't had any reason to use this function yet but I have a few tapes with the Memory chip just in case.
NO WAY the memory chip can grant you access to "service mode"

you read hv service manual? before you speak so loud?
I'm sorry but HV service manual?... hmm I thought the "hack" was for the XH-A1...
you just keep getting busted with every comment dude, sorry to point out the flaws in your arguments, my bad :-)
