iMovie Captures at 1.5x Normal Speed

I searched but didn't get any concrete answers as most of the threads were about iMovie capturing in SLOWER than recording speeds.

Quck history...I just bought a new 27" iMac. Last night I tried my first capture from my HV20 with iMovie. Everything seemed to work out great. I had it set to full (highest quality or whatever that option is) and 16x9 and it started capturing perfectly. When I returned to my computer though and reviewed the captured clips, about the first 10 seconds of the 20-30 minutues was in real time but the rest of the video was like one and a half times faster (or so) than real time. To my knowledge no settings were changed on my camera during the filming process between the various shots.

Any thoughts as to why it would capture at two different speeds and how to fix it? Thank you all.

Have you tried again? Did it do the same thing?

No, last night was my first day with the computer. I guess I could try again or a different tape and see if I have the same issue. Any thoughts as to why that would happen? Settings, etc?

I'd try again with the same tape. I highly doubt that it's the tape, and when troubleshooting, you want to introduce only one variable at a time.

I've never heard of this happening, so I have no idea what it would be. That's why I recommended you try again, so we can determine whether or not it's a fluke.

I check about half way through the capturing process and on-screen it was definitely moving faster than normal speed, but it also stated "importing at normal speed" or something like that. Hmmm.

Is the resulting footage also faster or was it only faster in the capture window?

Those new iMacs are fast or what?

I haven't rendered anything yet, but it was faster in both the capture window and when bringing into a project. Like I said though the first 20 seconds of the essentially same clip was at normal speed. Strange.

Does it play back normally on the camera?
