Default Macbook Pro and HV20 connection issue

Well I just purchased the new Macbook Pro and Im really happy because I can finally start editing my movies.
I plugged my HV20 to the Mac (USB-cable) and nothing happened.
I was really disappointed because <I thought that with a Mac everything
should go smooth but the computere didnt even recognise the camera?
    What should I do?

Im not the best computer guy and Im sure theres a simple explanation.
    I trust in my Mac

    Help me guys, please.

If you want to capture film, you need to connect to firewire, usb is just for potographs. If you got the new Macbook Pro, you got a firewire 800 port and you need a firewire 800 - 400 converter.
    Hope that helps.

Not a converter, just a 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable. (If someone's got a slighly older Mac, he needs the 6-to-4 pin cable. If he's got one of the few Macs without a FireWire port, then he's out of luck...)

Patryk, please search this forum, there are tons of posts like yours, answered many times.

If you read it, he says he purchased a "new MacBook Pro". The MBPs were never without a firewire port...

Yes, I read it - did you read mine? My answer was both for the OP and a general one - in the parenthesis I'm taling about "someone with a slightly older Mac", which needs the 6-to-4 pin...

Right... it's been discussed so many times I wasn't sure why the general comment was necessary

Maybe because some people don't use the Search function....
