    Default File recovery on HG20

Someone accidentally deleted all the videos on my camcorder hard disk before I could transfer them to my computer. Does anyone know where any sort of method / file recovery program that is usable on the camcorder to recover the videos? I don't want to risk anything or bricking the camera....

    Thanks.

I'm not sure of any camera specific software, but you can try Recuva -
    http://www.piriform.com/recuva

I use that from time to time and it works pretty good for being free. There are others that work well, but you have to pay for most.
It should work connected through USB since the computer sees it as an external drive.

Word of warning if you want to have any chance of saving them....do not record anything until you have found if they are recoverable or not. Files are not deleted, they are marked to be overwritten. If you record anything, you risk overwriting part, or all, of any videos.

Another I use is called Active Undelete. It works better than Recuva, but it's not free -

Depending on how big your drive is, these could take a couple of hours to scan / look for deleted files.
    I wish you luck.

    Thanks zagnut.

Using recuva, currently recovering the files. Everything is working as you said, though it took a bit of time to figure out what was going on.

Good advice, found this thread after deleting footage of my son's birthday party! Undelete did the trick. This should be a sticky!
