    Default Sunrise, sunset

Nature and wildlife at sunrise and sunset. Filmed during four days at the end of october 2009 using Canon HV30, Raynox HD-6600PRO wide angle lens for some shoots, Velbon DV-7000 fluid head tripod and Sony Vegas Pro 9. Minor color correction.

Wow, beautiful place - great variety of shots. This is very impressive considering your equipment and very little processing. Very well done.

This is some of , if not the nicest landscape footage I have ever seen come from this camera. Your work in FANTASTIC. You have a great eye. This is something your either born with or not. Looking foreward to seeing some more of your work!!!

    This is inspiring.

    Really, really, really impressive !!!

How did you setup your HV30 to get such results ?
(You certainly changed it between each scenes, but at least the fps and the mode you shot with...).

I saw some pictures on your Vimeo page: are you doing video for a living or is it just a hobby ? How come you learned to have such skills in photography ??

For sunrise and sunset shoots, I used the...sunset mode. Every other shoots were made using cine mode.
Video is just a hobby I like more and more. Usually, most of my videos are about family events or everyday life. This one is my first attempt to do something new.
Photos were shoot with Panasonic DMC-FX37 or Canon EOS20D (and some with HV30 also) depending on the day. I've probably learned a lot from my wife as she is a photographer.

I liked it a lot. Some shots almost leave you wanting for them to be a little longer. Beautiful indeed.

That's the dileme. I had to make two loops to extend the audio track. After that, I had 4:18 to put shots in.
The question was: more "short shots" or less "long shots" ? I went with the second option but even after deleting some shots, there remained much. So I choose to shorten some while extending others. I agree with you: some shots and still too short. Beauty should never end.

Very nice. So all you used was the sunset mode? No filters of any kind?

No, no filter. The light of the early morning made the job by itself.

Pretty incredible stuff! You almost created a portrait of medieval times if not for the modern elements in some shots. Looked like B-roll from a Ridley/Tony Scott movie. Awesome...

So how'd you accomplish the timelapse stuff?

Thanks Sabot Fighter to have digged out this thread.
Nice work! i'll say like antman, it's one of the best sequence i've seen with a consumer camera. It's probably a powerfull visual experience on a 1080p 46" TV with proper encoded bitrate!

Well done - a prime example of if it looks great to our eyes it will look good to our cameras - garbage in = garbage out. Punctuated by close-ups of animals, this would improve immensely; requiring hides and/or telephoto.

The timelapse is no more than shooting with a tripod from 5 to 10 minutes. Then accelerated 12x or even more in Vegas.

I can't think of a better thread and place to post my first post in these forums ......

You film is stunning, inspiring, and encouraging! I'm not sure I'll ever be able to pull off something this nice but I'll certainly try. I'm about to buy my first HDV camera today - the HV40 - and I am so glad that I found these forums.

I loved the trees as the leaves were falling down and you were tilting down as well. Very Beautiful.
