HV30 25P to Premiere Elements 4 to DVD
Hi guys, I've done plenty of reading in these forums and seem to be getting myself more confused rather than answering my questions.
I'm looking for somebody who is successfully using a PAL HV30 with Premiere Elements 4 and burning the results to a standard definition DVD-video.
I've tried to interprate the many threads in the forums but find that my footage is jerky, particularly on panning shots or anything that is moving.
I hope that this can't be the best results that can be had from this setup, but I can't seem to improve on them in any way.
Recording the footage in SD on the HV30 is fine, but I have plans to upgrade to HDTV and blu-ray in the near future and I want to start capturing everything in HD now.
Any help with a workflow would be greatly accepted.
Thanks.

Have you read the 'rolling shutter' thread? Lots of info on limitations with panning and action with these cameras. Also, why are you not shooting HD already? Even if you have to downsample to SD for output you'll still have better quality than shooting in SD. Lastly, why are you using Premiere Elements 4? They are up to version 8 and I'm not even sure if 4 can handle HDV. You're going to have to upgrade to something newer sooner or later, but I wouldn't judge your video by such an antiquated program's output.
To all Newbies: Have you read this FAQ before posting? Or watched this short video?
If you haven't, then don't complain when I close or move your thread.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
No, I haven't read the rolling shutter thread, but I will seek it out and compare notes.
I'm not shooting HD already, because I put my footage on DVD for other people's (family) use. The results shooting HD have been less than acceptable.
I'm using Premiere Elements 4 because that's what I've got. Version 7 followed 4 and didn't introduce any useful updates only an Adobe online archive functionality really. The latest version, version 8 has only recently been released and I'd like others to find issues with it first.
PE4 supports 720P,1080i and 1080P but I'm not sure if it does that 25FP thing. I'll try the trial version of version 8 and see if it makes any difference.
Right, so that's why I am where I am. Can anybody offer any help with my situation?
