I may have missed it in the thread, But I use my Zoom H2 off camera in 'Monitor" mode, plugged in directly to mic input of HV20, but NOT in 'record' or 'record standby' mode. I just turn on the 'power' switch, make audio adjustments using levels monitoring of both H2 and HV20 and I'm good to go. Outstanding results. Unlike some in their posts, I do get pretty good image rejection using the narrower 'front mikes' setting, comparable to coverage of most lower end 'shotguns, and stereo to boot. Also use it f. v/o and gathering sound f/x. Finally, it can record in 48k, and so goes directly onto my Final Cut timelines. Love to everybody,

I know people have put the H2 on a flash bracket as an external mic.wired; but is using the H2 as a wired/(not synced in post) hand-held interview mic workable?
What about the audio gain on the H2 and camcorder... and cord length to the interviewer in that situation?

Just to add to the thread, I've recently done a video for a friend (submission for a TV show) and we ran out of time (mainly due to his lack of preparation and last minute call), so I setup'd my HV40 with my Tascam DR-05 on top of it, as a mic. The result (like with any other mic placed on top of the camcorder) is a bit echo and roomy, but overall, it's always a good backup option (better than the onboard mics).
    Here's the video:
I DO IT BECAUSE I CAN. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT TO. I WANT TO BECAUSE YOU SAID I COULDN'T.
