    Default Canon EOS 7D

    http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/19/c...t-buy-systems/

Sadly looks like it will be more than the 5D MKII, even though in numbering it'll be spec'd lower than the 5D.

But the image looks real, and the microphone holes support that it will have video.

Hopefully we hear more about it officially.

What reason do you have to believe it'll have worse specs than the 5D?

Just looking back at their numbering system Canon uses (Lower number would be more professional) and speculation has been it will have just a APS-H sensor. I am hoping it will have better specs than the 5D MKII though. Atleast for video.

as someone commented on the site:

    Canon Naming System

    1. First, is if a "1"? If so, it's better. Skip to step 5.
    2. Does it start with a letter? If so, it's really old and it's worse. Skip to step 4.
    3. More digits in main number = worse.
    4. Higher numeric value = better.
    5. More letters/numbers after the main number = better.

Well we'll see if it's better or not.

It's probably for a different market. Better, worse, what do those terms mean. Chances are it'll have a smaller sensor but shoot faster frames per second (edit: maybe not faster FPS, but certainly some other trade off). Better, worse? Neither. Intended for a different purpose? Precisely.

You make a point, but you have to take in mind that everyone is loving the 5D MKII right now, so it'd not be a surprise if this was something much better than the 5D2. It'd really be a smart move on their part to make a 24p full manual control dslr cam. Of course everyone knows that, but we're still waiting for it to actually happen.

The price of the camera seem confusing. More expensive than the 5d2 yet it's 7d.
I wish it can do what the gh1 does.

Not sure if that is how Canon's tops are designed. (Never owned one so I'm not very familiar) But it's very similar to the 5D MKII top except this one has a pop up flash.

This is the most I've heard of the 7D in a week. Let's hope some leaked official specs are released soon. :]

    I wonder if they'll include 24p...

Actually, I've been holding off on the GH-1 waiting to see if canon comes out with a competitor in this rumored 7D, or the supposed 60D

Same here. Canon doesn't play around. Rumor today. @ BestBuy tomm. GH1 is available now. I had to hold back during checkout.
And what if GH2 comes with it's own new improvements. Not to mention a more affordable price. Panasonic seems to be aggressive on it's video department.

    Latest CanonRumor:

    Canon EOS 7D
    - Dual DIGIC 4
    - Built in Flash Master (Goodbye ST-E2)
    - Full HD Video
    - APS-C (1.6 Crop)
    - Non Articulating LCD

IMHO: Nice to dream. I think I'll settle for GH1.
But I'll give it 2more weeks.

This 1.6 crop in the sensor is not so bad. It is small compared with full size 35 mm still film of the 5DMII, but it is bigger than the 35mm movie film, as I Know, achieving a very nice shallow DOF.

the Carnival of Cultures video on vimeo that was shot on the GH1 really amazes me every time. Albeit the 60p feature is probably it's best part, but the 24p side of the camera is really good. I'd love to have one.

That video is amazing. I agree, and it looks way better than any thing I've seen with the HVXX.

Canon is supposed to announce what it is they're coming out with exactly on Sept. first or second, so we'll have to wait and see if it's going to be a competitor for the Gh-1.

    Anything special we see here?

I'm not sure, unless ISO 6400 is new, wasn't 3200 the old highest iso? Or am i wrong again?

Edit: During video i mean. I know higher ones are usable in digital photo.

oh and the 19 point autofocus system.

    - Dual digic 4
    - Full HD Video
    - 8 F/S

    Looks like a fast camera.
Is it possible for 1080 60p.
    It seems expensive.
    Wonder if 1800=$1800.

Since I have yet to buy a "HDSLR" I would consider this one if it has come control over the frame rates (24p 30p and 60p) and some better audio control. Eventually someone has to get this right.. if not hopefully Oly releases some video in their new flagship model.
