Whoa, big pics! But it's nice. Did you make everything (adapter + mount) yourself? And why the HG20 instead of the HV cams?
What kind of viewfinder is that? Where did you get it? Nice pics.

I constructed the adapter as well as the mount myself. Its V4 of "yet another vibrating adapter". Was attempting to make it one of the shortest and lightest adapter with back focus adjust.
I went with the hg because i did not want to go with tape, and was able to find an hg20 for under 500 brand new. Hv30's were tempting with their larger sized CMOS though....

looks great! sounds like a ridiculously inexpensive professional rig. 2 questions from a man who might want to steal your idea and copy you:
1. How good is the resolution on a viewfinder like that. You don't necessarily have to tell me the amount of pixels, if you don't know, but in your opinion, is it sharp enough to be able to focus an f1.8 lens like you got? Does it seem sharper than the LCD?
2. How do you have the viewfinder plugged up, is it a standard composite-video 1/8" jack, or does it have some propietary wierd plug that you had to solder or get an adapter for?

had to splice a stereo miniplug to connect to the camera
ive found it easier to focus with the BW viewfinder. i guess its the contrast that helps.
Looks pretty nice, and that 28mm f1.8 is nice too, my (FD) 28mm is f2.8...
How do you like the 701HDV head? Is it smooth(pan & tilt) with your rig?
I'm planning on buying one.

701 was much smoother than expected(for a smaller head). could especially tell after coming off of using libec style setups- which aren't bad but you can really tell the difference between a well built head and a cheaper one.
actually used the 701 with an ex1 + audio receivers and an led light kit piggybacked and it handled the weight well for a smaller head..
That's good to hear, now off to finding some legs...(hard to find for <€150).

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that uses a 701. I have a 745XB tripod and a 701 and love them.
Sorry for the late reply, the VF cost me $80(superCHeap) from ebay. I'll post pics of the power and video connection and mounting when i get it back from coating guys. Having it powder coated to match the adapter---->
