Default Vegas captures one scene as several hundred m2t files...

...is that normal? Each file is around 1MB in size. I'm using an HV40, video was recorded in 24F mode. When I try to play any of the files with VLC, it brings up a black screen of HD resolution but quickly disappears. I know the video is being sent to the computer, because Vegas shows it in the preview window.

I apologize if this has been covered, but I've been spending the last 20 minutes or so researching the problem and I haven't found anything. (Yes, I did read the "Trouble Connecting Camera..." sticky threads.)

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, it has been covered MANY times. Do a search for "scene detection" and you'll discover how to deal with this. And read the FAQ. Welcome to the forum.

Hi CycleWriter, thanks for the quick reply and the welcome!

I disabled Scene Detection, but that didn't work. I guess it's a problem with Vegas cause HDVSplit works just fine. And that's good enough for me.

There are some in here who have had issues with Vegas' built-in capture module and use only HDVSplit instead. I'm the other way around. Vegas works perfect for me, but HDVSplit is iffy.

Hi Eugenia. Yes, that was the first thing I did when I got it.

Anyway, I ended up installing the trial version of v9, and it works flawlessly. So I blame v8. (It also gave me trouble when I wanted to add files to the timeline.)
