Default HV30 tests: playing with camera settings and DOF

Here are a few short tests of my new HV30. With the flower videos I was playing with some of the settings on the camera, to see what they did to color saturation and depth of field. I keep the camera in Cinema-mode by default most of the time, because I tend to like the look.

the swarming bees I did just because they were cool. I was shooting nearly straight up into the tree, again probably 15-19 feet away with the optical zoom zoomed in as far as it would go.

The flower close-ups I did by setting the camera pretty far back (approximately 15-18 feet), and zooming in. All optical zoom, no digital. It seems to have provided some depth of field to the picture, which I liked.

All the videos are uploaded in HD. For some reason, the HD doesn't seem to translate very well in the embedded video, it looks better on the actual youtube site.

I'm honestly curious what folks feel they find most pleasing (or unpleasant) about the results. I know what I tend to like but I like hearing from other folks. If you have settings you tend to like, please let me know.

    Cheers,

Nice colors but all the vids are blurry to me, especially the first one. Could it be the focus or the compression codec?

Again, for some reason the embedded video blurs the output. But, I uploaded HD files and they appear HD on youtube. I have no bloody idea why, but my guess is that youtube is saving bandwidth for their own site.

    thanks for looking!
