Default Does XHA1 hold focus during zoom play?

I've been trying to find an answer to this through google and haven't yet.

If you focus on an object 30 feet away with the XHA1, for example, will the camera remain perfectly focused on that object if one zooms in and out a few times?

Does the camera's lense hold its focus?

Yeah I have the same problem. It doesn't hold the focus. You have to zoom slowly. I trained myself to hold the focus ring while I zoom too. It's quite sad. It also gets worst when shooting in 30p than 60i.

Oh gosh that's gotta be a nightmare. I don't actually have the camera, I'm just looking into it. I like to really work the zoom in and out fast, hence the question. Is there no way you can lock the focus?

Also, do you have the XHA1s or the XHA1?

    Thanks for the feedback man!

    XH-A1

It holds focus when you zoom in. But when you zoom in really fast, you have to wait a few seconds, or adjust the focus ring. It's not that bad. It's good to get rid of my bad habit to zoom too quick anyway.

    Ohh so you're on autofocus?
What about manual focus, does it hold that when you zoom in fast?

You can use manual focus. once you set the focus, zoom in and out won't affect the focus position. Xh-A1 also has a preset focus function too.

my bad, it's a habit. What exactly is a preset focus function?
Do you own the XHA1 or XHA1s?

This is a perfect way to demonstrate when to use quote effectively.

    XHA1

From the manual ... "Focus Preset enables a focus setting to be memorized and to return to that focus setting instantly. You can also select the speed at which the camcorder returns to the preset focus setting."

I was looking at the list of updates they made to the XHA1s and its pretty large. Have you considered upgrading to the newer model?

If you don't mind me picking your brain.
Has anything in particular bothered you about the XHA1?

Huh. Similar to Sony's shot transition, but with only one memorized point and only for focus.

In regards to A1 vs A1S, I am disappointed that Canon did not add better focus assist modes.

I'm disappointed their LCD still sucks big time. All I hear is "amazing camera except the LCD is crap and makes focusing hard".

Whats your favorite camera in the Xha1 prosumer range Rumpelgeist?

They did, you can operate both indipendent of each other. this is on the xha1s. I just bought one a few weeks ago , and i really like the cam. The upgrades from the original are well worth the extra 400.00 dollrs. when it was 800.00 more , no. not worth it.
