Seen the following message over at DVXUser:
I don't exactly know where it was copied from but there are already reports of a few folks who have experienced this bug. You think maybe they rushed this whole thing? Or maybe trying to drive up 5Dll sales...only to announce a new camera coming out with the same features and then some???? Who knows.Recently we have discovered a malfunction that occurs with Firmware Version 2.0.3, in which the manual recording levels for C1/C2/C3 are changed and the camera becomes unable to record audio if the power is turned off (or if Auto power off takes effect) after registering "Sound Recording: Manual" in the camera user settings.
We apologize very sincerely for the inconvenience, but we are going to stop making this firmware available for download. For customers who have already updated to the new firmware, when using the camera with the mode dial set to C1/C2/C3, please either set the sound recording settings to Auto.
We are currently preparing firmware that will correct this malfunction. As soon as those preparations have been completed, we will let you know on this Web site. In the meantime, we apologize for the inconvenience this represents, but please wait until the fixed firmware is ready.

luckily the bug doesn't affect shooting in M manual mode so we're not that bad while waiting for a fix

2.0.4 is out, http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/fir.../firmware.html
Did you guys see this?
http://philipbloom.co.uk/2010/04/05/...mm-macro-lens/
Canon 550D, EF-S 17-55 f2.8, EF 100-300mm L, EF 50mm f1.4, Canon HV30 plus Raynox w/a + telephoto, juicedlink pre-amps, manfrotto 501
Hey, so I was a little off in my prediction. Panasonic (not Canon) has announced a 4/3 (not quite full frame) camcorder with interchangeable lenses for $6,500 US:
http://www.gizmag.com/panasonics-ag-...-killer/16353/
The AF101 records 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p and 24p (native) and 720/60p, 50p, 30p, 25p and 24p (native) in AVCHD’s highest-quality PH mode (24Mbps).
"It’s the sort of wish list that had made many a 5D fan cry. It can be run at 60Hz or 50Hz so it is relevant everywhere on planet earth and it has time code recording (glory be). Instead of ignoring audio, the AF101 has a built-in stereo microphone recording two-channels of 48-kHz/16-bit digital audio with two XLR inputs with +48V Phantom Power. It has HD-SDI output, built-in ND filtering and overcomes all of the 5D’s moiré and aliasing issues."
What is it missing? Well, it's pricier than the 5d, but does have xlr inputs which is nice. And supposedly no, or much less alias and moire, great.
What about affordable lenses? What sort of lens can you put on this beast? I don't think there is a big selection that won't break the bank, and everyone knows it's all about the glass.
