I can import DV footage to Final Cut Pro or iMovie rearrange clips then export it back to tape and all the date and time information of when the clip was recorded (timecode? data code?) is retained and displays on the camera's LCD screen fine. When I try to do the same with HDV tapes no date and time information is retained. Nothing displays in the date and time area except dashes. Is this common with the HDV format? I sure hope not because I would like to duplicate HDV tapes and still have it retain the date and time it was recorded. Can anyone shed some light on this?
