Poker Scene From My Movie

Hey guys, still working on my movie, but here is a little scene just to get some criticism from you all. There will be still additions to this scene as well as editing, but i will be shooting them later on.

Let me know what you guys think and how i can improve it,

You could tell the beer cans were empty because they kept clanking them down after a fake swollow.

How did you position the mic? It sounds like poor SNR to me.

At 00:45 and 01:06 I can see light stands in the background

This was interesting. Looks like there are some funny cuts in there. Personally I think scenes like this are very difficult flow smoothly. Your almost there but like I said those cuts. For example from 46 seconds to 47, right after the guy said so let me tell you what happened...then the next scene everyone is laughing hysterically. I didn't get the joke...I we all missed it. The from 1:11 to 1:12 when the one guy made a comment about “funny…what happened to you...” then immediately there was a new scene with him sitting next to someone who was not there before where the guy was saying “Stop….stop….etc.” That kind of threw me off. Your almost there but those kind of cuts were jarring. Good effort though.

Yeah nice attempt, takes practice to use those kinda edits so that they become 'invisible'.

I'm really failing to see the point in filming out of focus though, these out of place and poorly used DOF adapters are spoiling so many shorts for me as the cameraman seems too interested in trying to show off new gear than directing the short properly.

I mean seriously, you think you need DOF for a poker table scene?
Would you post yourself singing out of tune just cause you got a new microphone? Ha, bad example I guess.

There will be additional scenes, before the laugh it will go back in time of the party and it will show what hapened to each person, then comes back to the poker scene and they are laughing about it.
