New Style Redrock Camera Rig - Cheap?

Came across this posting of a new Hybrid Cinema Rig from Redrock Micro.

It's for DSLRs that shoot video, but I can see it easily being used for the Canon HV series.

According to the press release:

The $195 price point is the for the baseplate alone. Not that great of a deal really. But I guess for Redrock equipment... it is?
