Either Militant or Speak of the Devil.

Both have incredibly dynamic and well lit shots. At the same time they very simplistic; there isn't a lot going on, there isn't a huge set or a collage. The viewer can really focus in on what's there.

    That's my opinion.

Okay... it would help to know on what criteria the contest is being judged and by who.

As far as being effective posters, most of these are nice compositions and show a lot of skill, but most simply aren't presenting solid selling points for the films. Since none of these have a recognizable star or director, which would be the first selling point, a hard sell of the the genre or story is next. Most of these REALLY need a tag line to give the image a hook and clarify what the story is about. MILITANT is the only one where I get a unified vibe from the title and the image, so by default that's the strongest at the moment, but it could still benefit from a solid six to ten word tag. SUBURBIA also has potential but it's too ambiguous... a strong tag to clarify whether it's a gritty drama or a film noir or... what? The image for SPEAK OF THE DEVIL is nice, but how does it relate to the title? Again, is this a horror film, a crime drama or...? Also, the "an FCRabbath film" blurb is badly placed, distracting from both the title and main image.

At the other end of the scale is the poster for OH VICTOR Ugly image of main character, title that tells the audience nothing, and the greatest sin, the use of a period in a title. Periods are dull, unless there are 3 of them forming an ellipses. "Oh Victor!," "Oh Victor..." or Oh Victor" are all stronger than "Oh Victor."

My favorites are X2,Y3 (Scarlet's Witch) and X1,Y4 (Suburbia). X2,Y4 (The Great Escape) would be a great poster to show off a star.

    Most attention grabbing
    (1) The Calling, (2) Legend of David 'trailer', (3) Light of Eden.

    Best at conveying theme
    (1) Militant, (2) Legend of David 'trailer' [assuming it's a horror], (3) Oh Victor, (4) Ninth Circle 'hood'

    Most professional looking
    (1) Legend of David 'slanted', (2) Oh Victor, (3) The Calling.

It does depend on how they're going to be judged and who's going to be judging them. If I was picking solely on what I would imagine seeing on the wall in a movie theater it would definitely be either Legend of David, Oh Victor, or The Calling. They're all very strongly made but saying that, they're not best at conveying the story. If you were being judged by serious media professionals they would pick up on that. However someone with less experience might not. If you're afraid of that I'd go for a balance between professional and theme conveying.

They're all extremely good though. Good luck.
