Default worst day ever! can you top it?

Wife got a nasty virus on the PC that I edit with...

Bank tells me I got hit with TEN overdraft fees due to being overdrawn some how! (found out later it's their mistake but I have to wait for them to fix it)

One of my dogs got injured and had to have an $1,100. surgery....

Found out my father in law has Lukemia and has to have bone marrow, stem cell, and blood transfusions....

    My vehicle broke down...

Came home to finally from work to find my 15 year old (other) dog has vomited the most foul smelling pile in the middle of the living room floor...

I'm coming down with a stomach flu or something, and I just got done sittin and sobbing while cleaning up her puke...j
    now I wanna puke.

    top that day guys!

Can't top that....but my day was spent waiting to see if I was one of the people getting laid off and walked out the door (I wasn't, but still not pleasant), then I came home to what appears to be the beginning of an ant infestation. On the 8th floor.

Look on the bright side; you should now be sweet for the next 20-30 years.

I dunno, misery loves company I guess..? haha NO, I just needed to vent bro.
And they both are as fine as could be expected I guess. The money part of his was the bummer, he'll be fine he's young and tough. But the older female now is another story given her age and that she's ben ran through the ringer. She's already had her spleen removed cuz it ruptured. And she's in remission from stomach cancer. She's had a portion of her esophogus removed at age 13, so puke is a big deal for my best freind of 15 years...
    Thanks for asking!

Iv'e ben bummin since the housing market fell... I have had my own business as a new construction contractor, for the past 9 years. I now work for half the pay I used to in fascilities management at a national engineering firm. At least I'm workin is what I keep tellin myelf.
I went from 6 empoyees, to 4, to 2 and then to none and eventually no work! Makin a career change at 34 sucks, and I'm sure there are some worse off than I was/am. I could at least tattoo during the down time.
Also, I live on a farm. My house is like 50+ years old and unfortunately ants are just a fact of spring for us. We deal with them when they start to come in for dry ground. good luck, and I hope you don't experience any more lay-offs at work.

Not to slight your in-law but man I love dogs! Seeing one in pain or losing one is almost harder than if they were human ...unless it's your kid or grandkid. But still.

The bright side is always no matter how hard this day was, tomorrow gives you another crack at it all.

Sincere, best wishes for your old friend and younger one, too. But to hell with the ants. Burn 'em!

    Two words: junior high.

In all seriousness though, that is rough. I hope your dogs get better. Just be optimistic!

    Thanks guys!

Time has a way of fixing most problems..
the bank refunded all TEN overdraft fees... It was most definitely their fault!
My dog is healing well from surgery..
the older one's stomach issues have subsided for the moment(knock on wood)...
My father in law has undergone a blood transfusion so far and is goin through the process of getting a stem cell trans, and then a bone marrow trans...
No luck with the virus on the PC, got my taxes done though,(REFUND!! woot woot!) LOL
and I'm waiting on a check for about $18,000. and my plan is quickly buying a new vehicle...
Lookin at a loaded 05 grand cherokee at the moment...
    SO,
Things are lookin up in some areas and still bummin in others... It was realy kind of hard to have any perspective at the time.
When you pile so many things up like that in one day, well it can be overwhelming to say the least! I was seriously glad when it was over, and now I can't wait for the weekend! Thanks for the kind thoughts!

    Cheers guys!

    Hey JLocke,

I don't feel so bad about a new hard drive case going 'tits up' on me now.

One of the quirks about the country I live in, is that when something goes wrong the retailer always sends the item back to the manufacturer for repair. I'm sure it would be easier for them and me if they just replaced it... and forget returning stuff.

It's been gone for over a week now, meanwhile I don't know for sure if my HDDs are OK.
The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

That sucks... I hope they work it out for you and everything is in tact.

I think I am going to try a couple things some friends from a stunt-riding forum suggested, and cross my fingers.
If that doesn't help, I dunno what I'll do short of paying someone to try to fix it.
Since a few of my best programs were put on my PC by a friend I'm no longer in contact with, I would hate to lose my Sony Vegas Pro8.0 and Photoshop if I were to just wipe everything off and start over from new!!
Can you download programs in their entireity to an external hard drive?
I paid $1500. US for my tower alone, I built it from Dell's cutom shop with top notch bits inside at the end of 2006, and Iv'e never had a problem ever.
The expense of having to buy those two programs for would be way more than if it cost me even $700. or more to get it fixed by a computer repair/service company.(if they even can fix it).
It's a problem that will be fast tracked towards a solution soon when I try to edit some of my footage from the field I'm sure.

    Good luck.

I thought I was the fall guy today, until I read all this.
So (just to amuse you) here's my case"
Had some bad transitions in my curent video project. Mainly when using scenes with quite some movement.
So I thought my external FW-HDD could be the troublemaker. So I brought the pc to the shop to install an internal 2nd HDD (did not have that yet, only the external).
Shop would call me, when things were finished.
They did not call, at least not soon enough . . . so I called them.
So at that moment they told me, the pc had a very slow start up. They had to check some more. Don't call us, we'll call you . .
They did not call. So I called again. At that moment they told me, my system Harddrive was bad. Should we send it to WD and wait whether it is still under garantee? No install me a new one. Quicker and not expensive. Should we clone the disk? Yes, please do. Don't call us . . .
They did not call. So I did. The clone started up slowly as well, so the files must have been corrupted by the bad disk . . . Clean install? Please do. Don't call us . . .
Now I am affraid to call again. Afraid that it will cost me more each time I call.

The retailer sent my HDD case back to the maker where it was replaced and sent back to the retailer. The retailer called me to let me know that I could come and collect it.

Seems the case overheated and fried its interface and not my drives, thank goodness. So all is well. I'm back up and running CASE CLOSED.

    How are you doing JLocke?

    Doing well... thanks for asking!

it's simply a "hurry up and wait" situation with my father in law's situaton.
That is probably the most grave and long lasting issue from my "worst day ever". I have learned a great deal about Lukemia and it's horrible.

If this stem cell transplant works he has a 40% chance according to the docs.
Comforting the wife and mother in law right now can be difficlut considering my mother in law's 88 year old father is goin through chemo. for Lymphoma now as well.

Health is something I think, at some time or another, we all take for granted.

If anything happens with this thread, maybe it's just a place for people to come and bitch about their day I dunno. But what I'm hoping for is that those of you that are maybe kind of having a crappy time or something. That when you read this, you'll realize that things can always be worse, but will always get better with time.
If I may go as far as to quote the great lowlander Craig Ferguson, "tomorrow's just a future yesterday..." LOL
