    Default Question about focus

On nature programs seen on TV, sometimes an animal will approach the camera from a distance, in focus, and then pass much closer to the camera seconds later, or even bump the camera, and stay in focus.

Can this sort of thing be achieved with an HV20, or do you have to buy a super high-dollar camera (50k+)?

You need an EXTREME Wide Angle lens greenvette (almost, or indeed, a fisheye).
W/A lens adaptors for the HV-20 are still a bit of an issue with this camera.
Its a lens thingy rather than a camera thingy. i.e. Lens Optics

You may be able to do similar with a Lensbaby providing the distant focus and close focused objects are, or move into, the right parts of the frame.
