Default SLR with 50mm lens as DOF Adapter

Hey guys... I'm finding ways to be able to use my old broken analog slr as a DOF adapter.
I manage to place the SLR viewfinder in front of an LX3.
You can notice the tiny black ring and rectangle in the middle since the Focus screen has that. I'm looking for ways to replace that with a good GG.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Here's the sample video. I will post image of the setup next.

I'm interested in your setup, pretty good footage, a bit out of focus though.

Really cool effect. I wouldn't worry about the ring as it adds to the look and its not a permanent set up anyways. You are getting some reflection off the viewfinder though and that kind of ruins it. I'm going to try this. How did you mount the cameras in front of each other?

Actually, the very first DOF adapter I ever saw was a video camera aimed into a Nikon SLR with the viewfinder removed. At the time, I thought it was a brilliant (although cumbersome) idea.

Here's a link to the how-to PDF, maybe it'll help...

I'll post the setup later.... Thanks guys... that might be out of focus since I'm just playing with it and not paying attention to the focused subject yet.

    Thanks for appreciating...

Awesome, I just borrowed an old analog SLR and a couple different lenses from my mom (old school amateur photographer).

Will be fun to test this out.
