    Default help with deinterlacing

Can someone please run me through the process of deinterlacing hv20 video footage? I use sony vegas platnum 9.0 for all my capture/editing (its a cheap program--about 100 bucks) Every time I do slow motion, the footage is very jittery and choppy. I read somewhere on here that I need to download extra stuff online to deinterlace ... but is this safe? I'm just worried about viruses, etc. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys.

my problem may have been that I've recorded footage in 24p mode?

If you are shooting in PF24 mode, then you don't need to de-interlace. You either leave it interlaced for DVDs (in 60i frame rate), or for web usage you remove pulldown first and then you edit (and in that case you set up your project properties and exporting dialogs to 23.976 fps). So, if by "interlacing" you mean "pulldown removal", then you need to read this instead:

I am sorry for being such a pain with this ... but I'd like to shoot in 24fps, then do slow mo on sony vegas, then export to dvd. Every time I do this, however, its jittery and choppy--anything but smooth. It's actually kind of annoying and trippy. I tried messing with the project properties (where you can apply upper fields, lower, or none, etc.) and couldn't get it to work either. Thanlks so much for your patience with all my questions

If you want slow-motion do it in 60i, not PF24.

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do I do it in 60i? do i shoot in 30 fps? then change something in sony vegas?

60i is the default HDV mode, not PF24.
