I guess everyone is as stumped as i am...Could someone please help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you...
I think it always time & date stamps each clip as you record on the tape but it will never show up on the video itself. I think you will see it when you begin playing a clip back in your camera. I'm not sure about post in the editor. There is also a setting called TV on or off that allows what shows on the cameral LCD to show on the TV if your playing the video to a TV from the camera.
Other than that, I'm still digging through the manual myself. I guess we'er all pretty new to the camera and hadn't run into the date & time. I went through the menu when I first got my camera and entered the right date & time so my photos and videos would get time stamped. I assume that you did do that, correct.
I just don't recall seeing anything that turns on or off time stamping when you take a photo or start recording. Have you rewound a tape and viewed it on the onboard LCD? I think it just comes on for a few seconds and goes away as I recall.
I set the date as soon as i got the camera. The only option i see in the menu's is to show the time/date for the first 6 seconds during playback...
my pictures don't show time and date either...thanks for the help, i'm going to continue looking around...in my opinion it's a huge feature that's missing...
I don't think there's a setting for that, since the time/date is always there - it's just a matter of showing it/hiding it while playing back the video. Are you playing back directly to a TV? If so, just hit the "DISP." button while playing back, and the time/date will show... hit it again, and it'll hide the time/date.
If you plan on editing the footage, I don't think it will show either way, but why would you want it to, when you could easily create a text overlay in any video editing program...? Personally, I think it's an awesome feature to be able to turn on/off the time & date at will. On older cameras, the time/date is "burned into" the video, so if you had it set to show at the time of taping, there's no way to get it off while playing back.

I'm pretty sure there's an avisynth plugin that extracts all metadata from the transport stream and overlays it on the video.
You should check doom9 for that, though.
