Well hello everyone I seem to have a problem and I need your help. So here's my problem. I'm making a short film soon where there is a scene where somebody opens up a drawer and a swarm of bees com flying out attacking to people chasing them out of the room and possibly down the hallway but I don't how I could achieve this effect. so how do I do it???

That sounds like some serious 3D animation.
No, wait, all you do is get a bunch of bees, put them in the drawer, then smear your actor with honey...

Actually, I don't know if this is workable, but if you could green screen a single bee flying (maybe set up over some inviting flowers and use high shutter speed in 60i), then maybe you could duplicate and animate the shot and superimpose it?

Also, I think the most important part of selling this sequence is going to be the sound track, lots of buzzing and maybe some ominous music.

I seem to recall an especially awful made-for-TV movie from the '70s (starring Marjoe Gortner?) about killer bees, where the part of the swarming bees was played by puffed-wheat cereal blown about by a fan ...

Look at using "Particular". Its a plug-in that can create some seriously nice particles (little specks that can be changed and morphed from fireworks to rain to leaves falling to bees!!)

It works with after effects and i thinks is about 250 pounds, but i aint sure on that. It is great though

THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS IT WORKS IN 3D. You can move around the bees, the bees faces will always face the camera, but if blurred this wouldnt really bee noticed! (pun kapow!)

You track your footage and then add the bee layer and the both work together!

2D looking 3D BEES! what more could you ask for!!!!?

..................honey is also good, with live bees.

thousands of sugar puffs and a small explosive with a trigger device connected to the drawer opening. that would be my other suggestion.

and then for the next shot, thousands of new, unburnt, sugar puffs on string. probably about 200 to a bambo rod. In rows of 5 to 10 rods, on a pulley system.

I think sound is going to save the day in this option

this is now my favourite thread title, runner-up is now - how many helium balloons to float an HV20

hahahah Thank you all so much!!! I think wheat puffs and a good sound track idea will do the job and be pretty funny so thats what I'm probably going to do!!! Yet again thanks!!!!

Yes, use After Effects. It's quite amazing what it can do, but the learning curve is steep.

Download the trial version and see if it will do what you need.

i really don't think you should proceed with my second option.
unless its tongue in cheek......and if you use explosive, which you wont will you!!?, then your tongue will probably not be in your cheek. It will be on the floor.
