    Default HV30 w/ RNG35

I recently received my RNG35 Adapter. I took it out for some test footage and what not using my Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens. Anyways, here's two screen grabs I liked.

Cool grabs! you might want to use a ND filter along with your Nikon 50mm. Was this shot hand held? the images are a little soft. I'm still debating between a new Handy35 vs used RedRock M2... Any pics of your setup?

I was using a uv filter. The shots are handheld, and I did not have a canon ef to nikon adapter so I had to hold the lens to the rng35 by hand. I'll try to get pictures when the rest of my setup arrives.

That day it was very bright outside and I was shooting at f/1.8

Would it have been beneficial to the quality if I had change it to something a little higher?

Does that basically work with any size and length lens/adapter?

By ND I meant Neutral Density filter, that will take care of sunny outdoor situations. Usually when using MF lens, you should try the next f-stop to avoid blur and achromatic aberration; so if you are using a 50mm f/1.8 you should try to shoot at f/2.8

I like the shots and think they look cool also. But I'm curious, in the shot with the dog, the area that is in focus is kind of blurry on the outer edges of the same plane. I'm talking mainly about the houses "in focus" in the middle of the photo. Once you got to its immediate right or left hand side the image becomes blurry....or is it just me? But overall I agree that the images are on the soft side.

I would try using a slightly higher f stop, lenses are never at their sharpest at the fastest value.

711: you said: "...I did not have a canon ef to nikon adapter so I had to hold the lens to the rng35 by hand."

Are you serious?!!? Those pics do not represent, at all, what the RNG35 can do. Please, for the love of all things sharp and focused, mount it properly with the required lens adapters and THEN post some pics. My RNG35 caught a glimpse of those pics and is now wincing in pain in the corner of the room here.

I'm sorry man, I didn't wish to put out a negative vibe. I did describe the circumstances so take the shots for what their worth. I will however take some more footage now with my rig finished and update the thread with the new results.

    Newest Test Results

Is this a little better? I had the lens actually secured on

However, I guess it still isn't too crisp. I took your guys' advice with the f stop and shot at f/2.8.

Looking better 711! Looks sharper, you could try with the next f/stop. Picture overall looks a little bit on the hot side, use the zebra pattern for better exposure. Are you using cine or tv mode?

Thanks. I was shooting in TV mode, with shutter at 24 I believe.

Yes, you guessed it... more stills.

Any feedback on these and the ones from before would be appreciated? Are they getting better?

Also, these were shot with shutter at 24, and the aperture ranging from f/2.8 to f/5.6. Would it help to shoot with a higher shutter speed, and with a lower setting for the aperture?
