Capture Issues PremPro CS3 HD 24p 16:9
Taky,
You are the reason I purchased an HV20 a few weeks ago...via an endorsement you gave after a PremPro CS3 online seminar. Thanks.
I took my first footage in Cine24p mode and captured with Vegas and got mt2 files. But tried to capture with PPCS3 and could only get avi's that are apparently downsampled. PPCS3 could not detect my HV20 unless I had DV Lock setting.
Can you give me any pointers on capture with PPCS3 that will allow true HD 24p 16:9 capture?
Thanks,
Jeff

Oh my god..that's a lot of pressure...
I assumed you already check to make sure you aren't setting your HV20 as "DV Lock".
Anyway, I don't use Premiere to capture. I use HDVSplit. Have you tried that yet? It's a free software you can download off the web
BTW, what did I "endorse" about HV20 after the PPro CS3 online seminar? I don't recall saying anything.

Taky,
Thanks for the tip on HDVSplit. I'll give it a shot.
Regarding HD Lock, PremProCS3 does not recognize my HV20 unless HD Lock in ON. Then I get DV avi's instead of HDV mt2's. Disappointing.
Your endorsement was based on a question I had about DVX100 vs HD. I decided to take you advice. Here's the post:

One last thing. Is it me or does the HV20 have a hard time tracking when panning? I get a large amount of interlacing unless I move VERY slowly. I don't get this with other DV cameras. LMK.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, I responded to your post in the pproug.org. Just want to get that site going.. that forum is quite dead.
24p is notorious of it's panning problem. It shows the same problem with my Canon XH-A1 in 24F mode too. I'm shooting in 60i mostly

Yes, I'm loving this forum. Thanks for moderating.
Is 60i, 60fps interlaced?
Does the HV20 shoot in 60i?
I haven't seen 60i in the manual.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, welcome aboard! We should thanks Mal starting this forum.
I'm still confused about the concept of 60i. It is something like the camera shooting 60 interlaced fields per second. It is for sure 30 frame per second.

Can you point me in the right direction. I can't seem to find it in the manual.
Thanks,
Jeff

Do you know how to change your HV20 to shoot in 24p? If not, you are already in 60i/30fps.

Yes, I set it up to shoot 24p cine mode. So if I set it so it's not in 24p I'm automatically in 60i?

Jeff, you are correct. In the menu, you can select HDV, HDV24P, DV and DV-wide. I don't have the camera in front of me.. so sorry if the item names are not exactly the same.

I am very interested in any answer to the OP: Can Premiere CS3 capture 24P/Cinema mode in HD or not ? It sounds very strange if it doesn't . I am considering an upgrade to my old Premiere but I need to know this first.
many thanks
Sergio
