Default Confused about 24p mode etc

    Hi

I have just got the HV30 today, and I just done a few test videos and transferred them over the sony vegas pro 8.

I have just read a post on here about the PAL version of this camera not being able to shoot in 24p mode.. is this a problem for me? Is the PAL version going to give me the same quality as the other HV30?

Can someone please direct me through recording in the best mode possible with this camera...i'm guessing this would be 25p with the PAL one.. how is this done?

As I am a beginner, I dont really understand all of this so i'm sorry if I come across completly amateur.

When I transferred this over to sony pro, and done a few bits of editing, I put it on full screen on my monitor and it didn't seem very 'HD'...especially compared to those videos that I have seen.

My recording mode is set to HDV so I know that isn't the problem

Can some one help me out?

    Thanks guys

You really need to spend some time just reading through some of the FAQs and Stickies in order to get acquainted with some of the terminology and conventions. For one, if you live in a country where the standard is NTSC (60hz electricity), then you have to use an NTSC camera and software. In countries that use PAL (50hz) you must use PAL equipment. One will not display properly on the other. The PAL camera shoots in 25P and does not require pulldown removal. The NTSC version shoots in 24P and does. That's the breaks.
To all Newbies: Have you read this FAQ before posting? Or watched this short video?
If you haven't, then don't complain when I close or move your thread.
