Is there a way to get telephoto & wide angle at the same time?
Is there a way to get telephoto & wide angle at the same time? I am considering getting the HV30 to record my son's car races. I will have to record from the stands, so I will need more zoom than 10X; however, it would also be nice to have a wide angle so that I would be able to capture the entire track & not have to keep zooming in & out. The track is 1/5 mile oval.

It sounds like one of the stupid Mercury Auto Insurnace =)
You can either, mount and unmount different lens. But that's not practical if you are shooting an event. Then I would suggest getting the Canon WD-H43 wide angle lens because of the 100% zoom through capability. The Raynox wide angle lens can zoom about 50% to 60%, then the image gets very soft.

Thank you so much. I am just a newbie trying to learn the ropes. I've heard so many diffing opinions on whether the HV30 will work for the fast action & lighting at the track (night time under stadium lights) that I'm still trying to decide if it will work for me.
