Default Vegas version 7 capture problem

I have just purchased Vegas Movie Studio Plus DVD, Platinum, version 7 and have been able to capture all my movies I took in Europe with Digital HD Sonny tapes ... captured at 1440x1080x32 etc.
I also used a Sony Premium DV tape but I am not able to capture the movie. Somehow it does not recognize the device, the HV20. What am I supossed to do?
I use firewire from HV20 to PC and USB from PC to extra hard disk drive where I am saving all movies.
    Thanks in advance.
BTW, I like the HV20 but the strap needs help. Not that my hand bled but it made a definitive mark on my hand and with the heat in Rome and such, bad bad bad!!! tried everything but to no avail

The tapes are all the same, it is not the culrprit. Turn on and off the HV20 and restart your PC. If you were able to capture once, you can do it again -- no matter which tape you used -- unless the tape is dead.

Also, too bad you bought Vegas Studio Platinum 7 instead of 8. Version 8 supports scene detection and it has much better HDV support.

You know? I noticed on this tape that there was quite a bit of black/nothing at the beginning and also some at the end. I could swear I used the tape to the end when I was filming in Europe... am I missing something?

Maybe that could be because of changing the tapes from hd tapes to normal? Usually you should use cleaning tape when you change tape brands, but maybe you should've used it after changing the types of tapes?

    Just guessing though.

Thanks for the reply, yes, is still a mistery to me ... I just wished I had taken a lot more tapes of the same brand etc with me, but hey ... live and learn.
