    Question Missing shutter speeds?

Hello all! I am the proud new owner of an HV20 and am greatly looking forward to being an active member of this community.

I start off my relationship with all of you with a question that has been bothering me since I first turned on my camera.

I have it set to 60i, mode: P and am attempting to set my shutter speed to 1/120 as displayed by many of the available slow motion tutorials but it doesn't seem to be present.

    My available speeds are:

    8
    15
    30
    60
    100
    250
    500
    1000
    2000

I seem to be missing many speeds that are mentioned on this forum, most noticeably 1/48 and am curious as to how I enable these?

Hopefully this question isn't ENTIRELY "noobish" and I look forward to hearing from you all!

    I'm pretty sure you won't get 1/48 unless you're shooting 24p mode.

Are you in tape mode or photo mode? Also, are you in cinema mode?

Do you have a PAL or NTSC model? Available shutter speeds are slightly different for each model. Please, always do a search before posting a question. Welcome to the forum.

Voodeux is correct. From the shutter speeds you mention it seems as if you are using the NTSC version in 60i mode (as you mentioned). If you want 1/48 you need to have the cam in 24p mode.

Make sure your video editing software can work with 24p footage...I made that mistake shooting in Cinemode with 24p, but I use Final Cut Express, which doesn't support 24p!
