Default Any recommendations on good inexpensive set of headphones for audio monitoring 4 hv20

Well ive got my lavalier mics and just ordered my canon dm-50 shotgun mike now I need a good set of headphones that will work with the HV20, something that will just do the job without getting crazy pricewise and hopefully pretty flat since they will have to go into our suitcase for our trip and my wife will most likely be wearing them. Any suggestions will be helpful, I have made several purchases based on suggestions here, thank you all very much

Any good over the ear headphones will do. Mine are Sennheiser. The one problem is the lead length, you need a max length of 1 mtr. or else the lead gets tied up in the surrounding bushes!!!! (What I film is my own affair!!!) I have made a mini cable tidy to cope with the 3 mtr. lead. Also ensure the plug is a 3.5mm not 1/4 inch.

Yes, the MDRV6 rocks - ultra hi-fi and very loud. I don't know if you can get them any more.

ok I have a set of AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-M3X headphones on their way, now this might seem like a silly question but as im monitoring the mic level in the camera on the lcd how do I know what is too loud or not loud enough? where should the level on the lcd be?

well I got the AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-M3X a couple of days ago and didnt really like them, not much isolation once you put them on and they just didnt sound that great to me so I went over to full compass today which is about 20 mins from my house and bought the sony 7506 professional, as soon as I put those on I knew that these were the ones, I also tried a set of sennheiser hd280 professionals ,,,wow you could hardly hear anything once you had those on, alas it was so hard for me to decide between the two that I called my wife and told her to come to the store she put them both on and picked the sony for comfort which the salesman said was one of their best features over the sennheisers but the sennheiser headphones were so good at keeping outside sound out that it could have gone either way but my wife said it felt like the sennheiser headphones were causing her to feel some discomfort in her jaw because the clamped down so hard, the sennheiser hd280 was also over $20.00 cheaper, in the future I might just pick up a pair

Make some short test recordings, making note of the levels on the LCD (not "peaking" into the "overload" zone, as well as how they sound in the headphones (I started with the output volume at midrange and with my headphones found I needed the output gain all the way up).

Put those test recordings on the timeline of your editor and see how your audio levels work and compare with what you have been getting.

I found with my HV20 once I did that, I was able to judge a lot about the audio through the headphones. But once you have found the output level to the phones that works for you don't change it. Once the "sound guy" I was using on a contest short "readjusted" the headphone's volume control for a "comfortable" higher level and made his judgements based on how that sounded. Everything was recorded lower than I would have.

Since I have the AV jack output from the camera set at the highest level, no one else gets to "monkey" with my monitoring level.
