    Default Cleaning the body

After a change of plans I had to tape my HV20 to a pushcart to use it as a rebel dolly. Before you ask - I was all alone after a friend didn't show up and I had to improvise.

Now my HV20 looks a little messed up because of adhesive tape leftovers.

I have some lighter gas to clean stuff, but I'm not sure if it won't damage the body. Any experiences with that?

By the way, a pushcart without someone on it is not a good dolly. Without the weight of the person it is not really stable enough.

Try a commercial product like "Goo-Gone", or test a light application of rubbing alcohol. When in doubt, test on another similar plastic device (that you don't care about). Some plastics will soften and/or pit.

Professionals to the rescue. The cleaning crew just stormed the office so I asked one of the ladies what she'd do with my HV20.

She pulled out a bottle of "Dreiturm spontan Fleckenentferner" and cleaned my camera in under a minute. Plus it has a nice orange smell now. Thanks.

Class, what did you learn from this exercise?

To use higher quality adhesive tape in the future and to find a shop that carries this stain remover.

No Jeeves. The lesson is to keep tape away from your camera body. That why they make camera supports.

Yep, but I was really desperate and that was the only way to get any usable footage for the scene. Although it was nearly a complete failure.

You should invest in one of these. Although this is just one of many types and brands. You never know when you might need one and they work better than tape.

This particular one is $69 at B&H. I plan on getting one by Christmas.
