THis monitor is standard defination. But the pixels are 1440x240 which I think is a little funny. I have tested focusing on it and it's pretty accurate, much better than the built in small LCD

    So it's a standard 480x240 monitor then...
The flip functions are nice though, just shame about the res.

It's not actually 1440, cheap knockoff brands tend to count the red, green and blue elements as individual pixels so as to inflate the spec. That said, it's still a pretty cool little monitor, can you tell us what model and manufacturer it is? Also, how's the viewing angle?

Hi, yeah this is a standard 7 inch monitor. Manufacturer is a company in Hong Kong so their build quality is pretty good. The viewing angle is 60 degrees horizontal and 30 vertical according to the specs. I think it is actually more than this if you look at the vimeo footage, when I go round the monitor You can pretty much see the picture even when I am shooting almost at the side. You can't buy a single piece directly from them as they have a minimum order of 100 pcs. Here are the specs

    Specifications

I saw you had this mounted ontop of the camera through the hot shoe at one point. Is this a practical setup, or is it unadvised?

Nothing wrong with mounting to the hot shoe. It is actually made for you to add lights, microphone and other add-ons. The monitor weights only 0.78lb or 350 grams so it is quite light.

Default GT35pro Advanced vs. GT35pro Elite

I'm trying to narrow down my choice of DOF adapter and have been scouring threads here and elsewhere for months in order to make a wise decision. What I haven't been able to find an answer for is whether or not a larger DOF adapter like the GT35pro Elite produces better results than a GT35pro Advanced on a Canon HV30. And by better results I mean less/no vignetting, chromatic aberration and most importantly as little light loss as possible. I know the Elites are designed for larger cameras but I also noticed you mentioned using a Canon HV30 to shoot the charts for your tests and that because it was smaller it used the sweet spot in the center of the achromat which is why the footage came out clearer than on some larger cameras.
Is this overkill for my little HV30? I'm on a budget so spending more on the DOF means I can't spend as much on the accessories. I'd love to know the difference in quality and light loss between the two models. Does the GT35pro Advanced really only sacrifice a 1/2 stop?

    amankerstudio,
NIkon has not changed their lens mount since they produced SLRs. All Nikon AI/AF including the DX lenses will work with the GT35pro Nikon mount.

To be totally honest, the GT35pro Advanced produces the best images, even better than the Elite. This is why adapters for larger camcorders are more expensive due to the more expensive optics. I need to keep the price of the Elite affordable so I am using a slightly different configuration. The GT35pro Standard is produces images almost identical to the Advanced but the Advanced is slightly brighter due to the superior achromat which has 3 lens elements and coated on all sides on each glass. I think the light loss is less than a stop but more than 0.5 with a 5 micron ground glass (a little more on the Standard and Elite) and not 0.5 as I thought earlier. But you can definately stop down to f22 without seeing grain on all models. If you see the previous post above I posted 2 rescharts of Advanced and Standard and you can note the slight difference in the brightness on the images. It will actually be very difficult to measure the actual light loss of the adapter unless you use a f1.2 lens and even that, you loose some more light. So perhaps the question everyone should be asking is "how much light loss with a standard f1.8 50mm lens."
In conclusion, I would recommend you the Advanced or even Standard if you don't need to use it with a bigger camcorder. The elite is much heavier and the Standard is the lightest model.

I don't want to be a party-pooper, but I might have to step in here and offer some sympathetic guidance...

You seem to keep posting BUMP posts. That's kind of annoying.
Also, you haven't actually got anything for sale here, and don't even list the price.
All you're doing is using this site to get people over to your own site.
    Not really liking this much...

And I think I'll merge your two selling threads together.

I did sticky your adapter thread now, but PLEASE: no BUMP posts anymore, and post the pricing for your products, otherwise we might have a problem...

thanks for the quick response, greg! it's a bummer you're getting hassled by the moderator. for the last few months I've been trolling this thread almost every day educating myself about DOF adapters and you're one of the stalwarts offering a ton of innovation to this community. strange that you'd get hassled over bumps and not listing prices. what's the deal with that? It's like a cop giving an old lady a ticket for not getting through the crosswalk in time before the light changes whilst a bank robbery is in progress across the street! I'm referring of course to the debacle I like to refer to as "the Jennsazbabe Scam" that rippled through this site unchecked and even defended at times... but I digress... just wanted to give you a shout out of support and thanks, greg.

One more quick question since I can't seem to get it answered anywhere else. Are you planning on making a spinning adapter any time soon? the more I've read about them the more I'm tempted to get one or make one. It appears as though they cut down on light loss and produce cleaner images than vibrating adaptors. Is that true?

So, for clarities sake, does the monitor your selling have enough resolution for focusing? (ahem) focusing in HD that is.
