Default Why is there no easy 24p method?

I can't believe I paid all this money for a camera with 24p and it does not provide a way to easily perform pullup without being a freaking scientist or paying gobs of cash.

Then I get on this site and its even worse. It would take hours to go through all the steps listed on some of these topics.
Does anyone have a straightforward way of doing this that does not require expensive software or more than 3 steps?

Not familiar with After Effects. Can you explain how easy it is? Might look into it if its simple enough.

Basically you just create a script for AE, then you select all the clips and run the script...done.

    Here is the script

Then you just make a 24p composition and render.

This camera has no 24p. It has "PF24" and it is explicitly called a "movie effect" in the manual. This is a consumer camera after all.

    Default Try TMPGEnc 4.0

    @xanaxan,

I had similar problems while facing all the long lengthy procedures. They do help , i agree but are tedious.

My solution for this was TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress, that performs pulldown perfectly.

*** EDIT by admin: no software piracy please ***

You can look into this TMPGEnc post , or to make things simpler , i have copied the same instructions below :

    1. Capture using vegas or HDV Split
    2. Import into TMPGEnc
    3. Click "Filters" button
    4. Make sure "Deinterlace" is checked
    5. Change Deinterlace Mode to "24fps special animation"
    6. Change Deinterlace Method to "Inverse Pulldown"
    7. Click "OK"
    8. Click "Format" button
    9. Chose "HDV format MPEG file" (double click it)
    10. Click "MPEG output" in 'non-standard settings' box on the right
    11. Click "yes" when the warning box comes up
    12. Change framerate to '23.976'
    13. Change DC Component to '9 bit'
    14. Change Display Mode to 'progressive'
    15. Save as template if you'd like
    16. Go to Encode and encode, of course

Output file looks great. All properties read HDV .m2t at 23.976

And btw, once you save the template, almost all the steps are eliminated. So this saves a lot of time my friend.

But if you are looking for direct pulldown from the tape itself, You better buy Neo HD Cineform.

Tsk Tsk Tsk. Same old complaint and no help for the questioner.
1- Questioner-Please ALWAYS state your platform- Mac or Windows
2- Answers - Pleas ALWAYS specify the platform of the recommended solution.
3- Please summarize recommendations in an orderly fashion, preferably as a step by step procedure.
    So while I'm at it.
Any experiences out there with transcoders / DTE that may perform pull-down removal as well as transcoding? I refer to Matrox , Firestore and Convergent Solutions boxes.

Yes, just like the "True HD 1920x1080" term. The easiest way is by using Cineform, I loved using Cineform (I was using the trial) but never got around to buying it. Soon after I learned how to guess 3:2 in AE.
