Default How to embed YouTube & Vimeo videos in this forum

Okay, as of right now, we have a new & improved video (and media) embedding system.
And it's VERY simple to use (and was a real PITA to install! )

For example, to post a YouTube video, simply post the full link, like this:

but without the quotes of course.

For Vimeo, you do the same, just post the link:

    without the quotes.

The system will automatically recognize the link, and embed the video.
You can visit the hosting site directly by clicking on the link.

For embedded links to quicktime files, such as ones with MOV extension, use the following codes:

[qt ] in front of the link, and then followed by [ /qt] without the spaces...

VIMEO doesn't allow such embedded vids to be in HD, so yo watch videos in HD you will need to visit VIMEO.

Also, the system is capable of embedding videos from about 170 sites.
I will need to know which other ones yous all want activated.

    YouTube example:

I'm simply posting the direct link to YouTube:
    but without the " "s:

    [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=3W7f9bn2bDQ"]YouTube - Dezarie - Travelers[/ame]

    Vimeo example:

I'm simply posting the direct link to Vimeo:
    but without the " "s:

[ame="http://www.vimeo.com/2376810"]My 1st Day with EOS 5D MarkII HD on Vimeo[/ame]
Does NOT to work in HD. They want you to go back to vimeo for that.

    Quicktime example:

Embed the MOV file using the [ qt ] and [ / qt ] tags (without spaces):

The only thing that I don't know how to do, is when there's two YT or two Vimeo movies on the same page.

    I suck at coding...

You need to give a different name to each JS instance I guess. Email me with some information on how you do it so far and I can have a look if you like.

Is there a way to give a person the option of letting it embed the video or not embedding?

    Reason:
YouTube, when it embeds, will only show the low-res crappy version.
If we want people to see our high-res version, unless they know to click the link that appears above that new box on the &fmt=22 link, all they're going to see is the crappy footage.

I love having the functionality there, but would like the option of being able to turn it on or off depending on what I post.

    Thanks,
    Graydon

The implementation is a little buggy. There is an option, but it does not work.
If you check "Do not parse links" then the Preview has no embedded player, but the final posting has.

    Default Youtube in HD?

Maybe have the code to allow users to add in a parameter to specify if the video is HD? then the code automatically add &fmt=22 to the URL of the embed code? like mentioned here:

    vnguyen972,
    I LOVE that link!
That's the little gem I've been looking for....

    Thanks for posting that...
Now my embedded ones can actually look good.

Right now anything I upload in HD when played in "Normal View" looks like crap.

If you want to "trick" auto-embedding you could also get a short-url.

I was posting links to video from YouTube to this forum. Then I noticed there're some issues. Video embeded to HV20.com is in non-HD mode wrapped in a 4:3 box. Also, if there're more than one YouTube video embeded to same thread, only the first one will be called.

I poked around and found this alternative method. Both in YouTube and Vimeo, there is an "Embed" parameter box. For YouTube, you can customize the player style as well as forcing HD playback too. Then you copy all the codes and paste to the thread in hv20.com. Now locate whatever it stats http://xxxxx till the end of that http code with the double quotation mark. Remove everything else.

In Hv20.com, it will appears as clickable link. You clicked to open a new browser window to play the video filling the entire browser window. Now for YouTube video, you can specify to force playing in HD mode.

    Here's an example,

I use the ninjapenguin recoder, then change the box size to whatever I want.
The website shows the way it looks in HQ and HD, but I just use the HD one.

We need to fix the problem of two youtube videos on the same page. I've encountered that error three times in the last three days

Im just speculating on this, but i think it might have something to do with the warning system that is incorporated into the embed system. I've been on other vbulletin forums that have the embeds directly in the window, no warnings, and they have no problems with multiple videos.

No, it's my fault, but I don't know how to fix it.

Check my PROFILE, someone had figured it out, but I never followed up on it.

Just send the code to him – he sounds like he can fix it.
