Good grief! There must be 1000 posts here about the Rode Videomic, most of them positive. If it intruded on the image don't you expect someone would have complained about it? You can even shift the mount forward (there are two locations for the camera mount on the mic shock frame) to get away from motor noise without having the mic in your field of view. If you use the dead cat it might show, but I don't know.

Okay,Yeah so i got my rode video mic but i have a problem, yeah i am not 5 years old but i cannot connect my rode to my hv30 hot shoe thingy,i take the top of to the side but thats not enough it wont let the rode fit, that ugly cover! Is there anywhere for me to take that top off all the way?Cutting it off or opening the hv30 will buck up my warrenty or how you call it so its not a choise i guess.

It's hard to get on at first because of the tether, but move the cover back and to the side. After a few times you'll be able to put it on in a couple of seconds.
But seriously, in the time it took me to write this, you could've figured out how to do it on your own. It's just a little bit of plastic.
