VideoMic VS NTG2

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy a nice shotgun for all purpose use (with my HV20). I continue to hear great things about the RODE Videomic, but I'm also considering the RODE NTG-2 as well. I would like to be able to do on camera use, and boom pole use. I figured if I opted for the Videomic I could buy the V-XLR adapter to allow me to do long runs into my Beachtek DXA-2s for boom pole use. Although,with the NTG2 no adapters are needed.

As far as appearance goes I don't have a DOF adapter, so I don't want the mic to overwhelm my poor HV20.

I would really love to hear some of your opinions.

i think your getting it backwards...
videomic=no adapter
NTG-2=adapter

Save up and go with the NTG-2... you won't be able to use the videomic on a boompole without an annoying amount of buzzing...the NTG-2 will have better sound quality even on camera, plus you get the option to mount it on a boom

Get the DV Creators NTG-2 kit, with a Juicedlink CX211 (or a higher model if you prefer). That's the audio setup I have and you can't beat it for the price, I had a RVM but it's so limited compared to an actual audio kit. If your serious about audio, get a NTG-2.
