Wobble This and Wobble That

I kind of want to address one of the flaws with the HV20. I know this isn't big news but some people have problems with wobbling and others do not. I personally do not have any problems with it. The only time that I get a little wobble is when I move the camera in a very violently way and even then you can hardly notice it. I really want to stress the suggestion that you buy the camera from a place that will give you a refund or exchange it after you have opened it and tested it. Paying a little more from a place that will take it back will most likely pay off if the camera does have this problem. When you get it immediately test the camera. Do crazy motions, drive in your car, or whatever you can think of. Then watch it to make sure that it doesn't wobble at all or little enough to where you can live with it. I am not sure if Canon will correct this with the warranty.

Also, as far as the ghosting with 24p: It personally doesn't bother me that much. Maybe it's just me or my camera does it very little. But, mostly it's something you will only notice when you are trying to find it. I have noticed ghosting on film as well and to me it's just a good look as long as it's not too much.

I believe the wobbles become obvious when working at high shutter speeds whilst moving. I try to stick at 1/50, and the wobbles are not visible.

Agreed. I was expecting the worst when I went to the drag strip and watched cars getting from 0 to 200mph in under 14 seconds. At 1/50 there wasnt a problem panning at such speeds.

anyone could match the rollercoaster footage taken with cx7? it is in worse conditions than the hv20 helicopter one but it has a minimal wobble.

But we don't know what the shutter speed was. If we can compare like for like, that would be far better.

I shoot at 1/50 and can hardly see any rolling shutter artifacts, even when shaking the HV20 like crazy.

IMHO if you put 24P in that Sony you will get the same issues as the HV20. With that said...I still have no problems with wobble with my HV20 (only in extreme unusable conditions) and I still have never turned on my OIS.

the actual settings would be very good to know indeed. he said the camera is always on auto but they should be displayed on playback.
