Is downsampling to DV via firewire possible?
Hi,
I have this camcorder and record videos in HDV format. But I do not have a HD DVD burner. So, I burn my videos in Standard DV format. One problem that I have is that the videos have the strips on the top and bottom which I do not like. Now, is there an option in the camcorder where I can record in HDV format and capture the video clips via firewire in DV format? If yes, will this crop the video clips? What is the best way to shoot my videos in this situation? Simply record in DV format instead?
I am using vegas video to capture and render them into avi file and then DVDFlick to create a DVD.
Thank you very much in advance for your replies.

There are no "strips" on top and bottom, this is HD, which is widescreen. The camera downconverts to DV widescreen, again no strips. You can crop your video in an editing applicaiton.

Thanks for the reply. So by cropping, will the video be scaled and/or cut? I can try but it is a long video and I have to wait 6 hours to get the end result. Is there an option in the camcorder to down convert into DV standard instead of DV widescreen? Actually by the strips I meant widescreen format. Sorry for the incorrect usage.
