Default Will this lens hood be ok with hv20?

I found the following lens hood in B&H:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/11148-REG/B_W_65069586_43mm_Screw_In_Folding_Rubber.html

    B+W 43mm Screw-In Folding Rubber Lens Hood #900

Will it work all right with the hv20?

While the product might be, be very weary of the shop you buy it. I usually use ResselerRatings.com to see if an online shop is a baiter, or a real shop.

Are you suggesting B&H might be a bait/switch online shop? I assure you B&H is 100% on the up and up, they handle our govt contracts when such equipment they sell is needed. They are at our office all the time handing out new catalogs and demoing new products.

B&H is fine, i've bought from them.

Will the hood work for this camera?

I am simply suggesting to be always cautious about online shopping, especially about photography stuff.

Ok, but to be clear in this situation, where looking up resellerratings probably doesn't apply for BH, you should be fine making a purchase from them.

That lens hood doesn't look like it would do much for you; it's too short.
To control ambient light effectively, you really need a matte box.
These are expensive to buy, but you can easily make your own with black foamcore and an exacto blade.
Of course, the HV20 naked doesn't really have anywhere to mount a matte box, but if you use a supplemental lens, such as a wide angle, then you're good to go.

Regarding the matte box, i get what you say...Unfortunately i need a simple, very portable solution, and my budget is tight...I've seen lots of guys here with relatively small lens hoods, like this:

In your opinion, will this be better than the B+W one?

I bought 3 of these from this guy in Shanghai for under £2.00 each...

I bought 3 coz they were so cheap and looked very plasticy but first one is still on and doing fine after several months. No damage. They were delivered to London in 5 days

    Thanks for the link, vegasarian.

One question, with this kind of hoods such as the one vegasarian suggests, will i still be able to put filters (polarizer, whatever) in the camera?

Lucky you. I bought mine a month ago and I'm still waiting! I e-mailed him and he said he's surprised I haven't received it as they shipped it long ago, and that I need to go check with my local post office. I'll check tomorrow, but I doubt it will be there somehow. Nevertheless, he has excellent feedback, so it is probably just a glitch in the postal system.

You will only be able to screw a filter 'behind' this hood tomperson, and the hood on to the filter.

LOL. FYI and no offense to your great advice. I've been buying from B& H for decades, besides, they just expanded thier Brick & Mortar operation in NYC. They have a HUGE retail space now!!

BTW- I use a FotoDiox 43mm Silver hood (black inside) on a MC UV filter for my camera. kinda pricey for plastic but it fits nice and snug and service was courteous and shiping fast.http://www.fotodiox.com I'm aslo planning on getting a 43-52 step up and 52mm adapter ring for my Cokin P series setup

    Default B&H.. slightly OT

Hi, just for the record, even though B&H has been around for years, and will probably not scam you, and try to sell you a bunch of extra stuff you don't need, they are indeed a grey market store.

Not sure I follow you? Will you get the product you select to purchase from their website? Yes. Will they advertise one thing then say they don't have it but try and sell you a replacement at 2x the cost? No. Will they close up shop a week after you spend 10 grand on equipment and leave you holding a bag of crap? No. Grey market just means they import products into the US that are not normally available in the US, whats wrong w/ that? It's not like they switch out the products between when you buy and when they ship them to you. You KNOW you are buying an IMP product when you select it.

    Default B&H

Basically Grey Market means you don't get a factory warranty.
